I'm new to the forum. I have been writing songs for some time now and my family is tired of telling me I should do something with them. They say they like them but of course they are family. Here is an example, Please give me an honest oppinion. I have chords and melody also.

Old Memories Tears
She sat down on the front porch
and began going back through the years
the time slipped away
as she went back to a single summers day
When she was young and carefree
and he was wild and brave
and as the sun began to fade
she cried old memories tears
She's got all she ever wanted
she's got more than enough to please
But sometime's in the evening
When the leaves catch the breeze
She sits down on the front porch
and cries old memories tears
He was more than a thousand miles away
but he still thought about her everyday
He fought for right and for freedom
and hoped he'd return to her someday
But on a hard winter's evening
as the sun began to fade
He fell down to the cold cold ground
and he slipped away
Now it's been forty years and
forty thousand tears
since that foreign day
She's made for herself a new life
and she's doin ok
But sometimes in the evening
as the leaves catch the breeze
She sit's down on the front porch
and cries old memories tears
She sit's down on the front porch
and cries old memories tears
