Here's a question in search of an answer, How can a band attract a manager without having to sign up with an agency?

Our dilemma: We (BackTrack that is) are one fine classic rock band that actually has other jobs to support our families. We want to and have been playing 1-2 weekends per month for the last 6 years and now the gigs have all run dry. Most gigs have been acquired through word of mouth and through friends.  Because of our work schedules, none of us has the time to make the phone calls or do the leg work in order to compete with some of the sub-par bands that frequent the choice venues. When we have gone through an agency, they put us in a place with Frank Sinatra pictures all over the walls. Classic rock-Frank Sinatra? No way, we were set-up to fail. Whats a band to do? We don't plan to make a career out of it but we want to play out for those who profess to love us. Can I get some sugestions?
