Hi guys ,

I am having an interesting question from quite a long time.I have always wanted to hear the distinct sounds of a strat , tele , les paul and SG.Now i do hear to various varieties of bands but i don't know who uses them exclusively. Are their any instrumental mp3s or midi of these particular guitars.Or can you list the artists who use them.(that will seriously help me in choosing which type i should buy  )

The question still remains , that all are electric solid bodys and is there a VERY huge difference in their respective sounds.Lets face it , i mean can you get the same distortion from all (esp from a tele) or the overdrive ?

i am sure many of you play all these types so maybe you can enlighten.Cheers (what a nice weather here in delhi :) )

Stratocaster- Listen to Jimi Hendix, Buddy Guy, Eric Johnson, David Gilmore

Les Paul- Listen to Jimmy Page or Zakk Wylde or early Eric Clapton from his days with Cream

Telecaster- Listen to Danny Gatton

SG- Listen to Angus Young

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis

SG- Listen to Angus Young
Stratocaster- Go back even further and listen to Eddie Cochrane, Buddy Holly, Hank Marvin, Ventures - all users of "clean" Strat sounds

Les Paul- Listen to, er, Les Paul and hear how he meant the guitar to sound

Telecaster- Listen to Status Quo, Bruce Springsteen (although I think his is either a Broadcaster or a Nocaster), Keef (Keith Richards, for uninitiated)

SG- Listen to Pete Townshend (with P90s)

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

does U2 uses tele?

The Edge has a fairly large collection of axes, including a couple of Tele's AFAIK.
