It's my competition with a very good guitarist and I want a song for the auditions for a rock concert. It should have good lead, striking rhythm, soothing finger style and a touch of bass. I'll be playing only one lick of bass.
I also trying to find out but still waiting :(
I don't know if it HAS fingerstyle in it but How about Rock you like a Hurricane by the scorpions. The song isn't difficult, the lead has melody and shows a bit of technical chops without being a super fast solo, it's old enough to possibly be a pleasant surprise to the audience, and you could probably do the slow part fingerstyle.
I suggest Free bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's definitely one of the most iconic epics ever written for rock guitar.
China Grove by the Doobie Brothers is fun song to learn. Not to easy, not to hard.
Give them some Iommy riffs or Randy's Crazy solos.
