Gerry, I'm making a tongue in cheek recommendation about playing by yourself with your Johnson.

You got me good Ricochet! I actually went to the site to see if Johnson had somehow managed to stuff a looper/recorder in that box! :)

Rahul, I think you're studying too hard. Lighten up, homeboy! :P

Gerry, welcome to GN. The online jams and collabos that Geoo linked and referred to are recorded rather than live. No time zone restrictions a'tall.

homeboy -

Contrary to popular belief, homeboy along with homie were both created by Chicano aka Mexican American Pachucos from the word "Hombre" which is spanish for "man". It all derived from the slang they used known as "Calo".

That's interesting, Geoo. And here I thought Homer Simpson was probably involved.

Studying ?

That's the thing I try not to 'not to do'. But I am a follower of Ricochet and take his advice practically most of the time.

Neztok : You are most welcome to talk about yours too.

Actually I believe we need to have a completely new forum section entitled 'You and your Johnsons.'

Who's the exclusive mod ? You guessed it, its Ricochet.

Eric Clapton put out a CD titled Me and Mr. Johnson.

I might have to do one called Me and My Johnson.

Thanks Jim, yes of course online Jams are another option and a good one. There are some buts though, the need to be at roughly the same level, the problems with different time zones and of course the dreaded internet connection. When I jam with someone in the USA I am normally up all night LOL so I gave it up.

I find playing in my own time and my own speed suites me better. In either case improvising and jamming are great ways of improving your skills be it with others or on your own.

Gerry

We usually will have someone host a jam by picking out or creating a backing track and posting it in this forum. usually their is 4 or 5 slots. every one sends an mp3 file to the host and he or she mixes it and will post it over at the "Hear Here" forum.

We encourage everyone to join in so we will have a wide variety of skill level on most jams...its a thing of beauty :D Any one who can play 3 chords can join in and play with someone who plays for a living :D

Thanks Smokindog I see how you do it now. Hopefully when I get some time I'll join in the fun. I have to work to buy the guitars and in doing so it keeps me away from them Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
