Im looking at lace sensor pickups for my fender strat. does anyone know how they sound? Im reading about them and they seem really cool but i dont want to spend alot off money and be disapointed. Im looking at the red blue silver setup and having dually reds at the bridge. but i dont know how they sound. anybody have a lace sensor even all golds? im into classic rock alternate and modern rock but im now start to play metal so i want a versitile sounding guitar rather then buying one for each music genre. THanks anyone who can help.

I have an 80's strat plus. it has three Gold Lace Sensors. great pickups. I couldnt be happier.
they have that clear bell vintage tone to an ear piercing treble surf and everything in between.
they can overdrive a small amp. whereas ceramic pups wouldnt.
they are sensitive to pick attack and totally hum free.
the Red Lace are bluesier. IMO
Ive played them. they remind me of an overdriven amp I would hear on old Sun Record recordings.
they are crisp and punchy when you want. the bridge pickup setting crunches nice and flabby.
and with Lace Sensors the tone knob really becomes an effective weapon.

Just for reference:

The gold have the lowest output, while the red's have the highest. Thats why the reds sound more bluesy. They push the amp harder.

I mean really...
It's almost always lyrics...

Lace Sensors is about all I have left of a Strat Plus I owned a long time ago. They are about to go into my guitar build. I remember really liking the sound but I like the sound of Strats and Teles. I'm not sure how they would fit a metal guitar though.
