I have yet to see any high power transmitter that didn't use some variety of tube as a final driving element. Magnatron, Klystron, or travling wave tube. Only in huge arays have I seen solid state devices used as a drivers.
Any AUDIO engineer worth a hoot will want tubes in a pre-amp stage and preferably as a final. Either that or go through a bunch of rig-a-maroll to boost the even order harmonics and suppress the odd. That is a real trick with transistors, those things really don't like to do that.
I may be going to hell in a bucket but at least I'm enjoying the ride. (Jerry Garcea)
Another tube amp player saved. Yes!
To think you may have been considering abandoning your tube amp and going solid state, all because of a loose jack in your axe. Ahh, life can be strange. Life lives and breathes again in the warmth of your fingers and your trusty tube amp.
As uou may guess, I favor tube amps over solid state very strongly.
