I found this 96 Gibson Studio in a local pawn shop, $250.00 bucks later and it was mine. The guitar has a ebony fret board, and whoever had it changed the pickups to P-94's.
When we took the paint of the neck we found this repair.

I'm not sure if i want to get the guitar repainted or just put a sealer on the wood,What would you guys do?
I want to get some new tuners, change the bridge pickup out with a pearly gates or a 57+,maybe put a pick guard on.The guitar plays incredible. What would you guys do if this was yours???

I'd keep the body natural and use tung oil - or better yet: Tru Oil - to seal it. Not sure about the neck - I'd probably just use Tru Oil on that too, and call the repair a "reinforcement."

P.S. Great find! Congrats!

I'd use tru-oil or something to make the grain a bit darker and seal it. Natural mahogany looks beautiful, I wouldn't mind doing the same to my Jay Turser.

If I was you, I'd sell those P94's to me. And maybe, read your PM's.

The difficulty I see with clear coat is that the neck repair will stick out like a sore thumb, and it's in a spot that the player will see.
If that's what you want, you might be able to get a replacement neck on Ebay, or on the web.

If you want to keep the neck, my vote would be for repainting, especially to cover the neck repair.
With some planning, you might be able to do something like a sunburst finish where the body is natural, with dark brown and black edges, ending with a dark brown neck and black headstock that covers the repair.

This site may help.

In my evaluation, the playability of the guitar is the most important feature, which means that you have a great guitar!

I would leave the P-94's in it! P-90's are great pickups.

What amps and pedals will you be running though. Theres not a whole lot of point in Duncans or Bareknuckles of anything like that if your playing through a bad amp or anything.

Good idea -- keeping at least one of the P90/94s.

I'd keep 'em both.
