Hello -

I'm thinking about buying the Hal Leonard transcription book for Pat Metheny's album "One Quiet Night" and am wondering if anybody out there has a copy of it and can answer a couple questions I have about the tunings used on the album.

I know that he's playing a baritone guitar, but also know that the tab will transpose without me really thinking about it as long as I'm tuned right. But somewhere I read that he's using a "Nashville" tuning.

Now, I've read elsewhere about "Nashville" tuning and that in some cases this involves restringing some of the low strings on the guitar with light gauge strings and tuning them an octive high. I don't have a second guitar, so I don't really want to do something like that.

Anybody know what's going on with this?

Thanks,
Shane

Pat Metheney was in Fingerstyle Guitar magazine a while back (on the cover), and there was a transcription of a tune in that issue - "And Time Goes On." IIRC, the baritone guitar tuning is a fifth lower than standard, and the third and fourth strings are tuned up an octave (using lighter strings).
