hiya all !
i hav seen knopfler playing some people refer to as running chords .....
cud someome throw some light on how it is done ?
is he just playing a note and playing corresponding notes that hav barre's
i wudnt know .. i want sum experts here to answer !

'running chords'. havent heard that term.
are you saying ...playing notes while forming a barre chord?
if yes, that is quite a common technique.
jazz players come to mind.
an example would be to form a barre chord and then pick out the scale notes. you need to lift and move some of your fingers.
next, forming a chord, pick out a melody.
I guess this is my guess.
