Well, it looks like I may have a chance to play my first gig in September. The problem is I need set list ideas. It will be at a block party, and most of my street are middle-aged adults, so classic rock and blues may be my best bet. I really want something easy to remember, and something that we won't take too long getting arranged with. We can get up to three guitars plus the rest of the full band.

Thanks

Ethan

OK-So far I've got:

Wild Horses-The Rolling Stones
Knockin' On Heaven's Door-Guns and Roses
Like A Rolling Stone-Bob Dylan
Little Wing-Pick One(Most likely the Hendrix version)
All Along The Watchtower-Hendrix
Satisfaction-The Rolling Stones
Stand By Me-Ben E. King

And there are several incredible guitar players living on my street, so we'll have to see if we can get any one of them up to jam 8)

Not a bad list so far.

How about:

Mustang Sally - Wilson Pickett

Some say it's over played but it is guaranteed to fill the dance floor
especially considering the audience demographic you mention.

It's just a 12 bar in C (or whatever key)
Get funky and remember the breaks

Speaking of 12 bar Red House - Hendrix

Usually done in A

I've jammed on both of these many times with good to excellent results.

Good Luck and most of all have FUN

Keep your hands to yourself - Georgia Satellites ( 12 bar blues )
Johnny be good - Chuck Berry ( same progression )
Can't you see - Marshall Tucker ( 3 chords - D,C and G... )

If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .

Awesome idea Rocker. I love that song.

I'd expect no less from a guy with Jimmy Page in his avatar, though

All of these are great ideas. Yes, we have a guy on our street who is a very talented rock vocalist and he can get the Bon Scott vocal sound no problem. Highway to Hell sounds great, maybe a short improv in the list somewhere too? 8)

I'd love to do more modern stuff, but we'd rather have something everyone will know. I'll look into it though.

I most likely should have been more specific, now that I think about it. I am the oldest or close to it in the group, and I'm 14. We're hardcore classic rockers though, and most of our covers are older than we are 8)

The group we'll be playing for includes our parents, so take that into account
