I just noticed a small crack on the side of my electric guitar. I wanted to know if it could be fixed by a luthier :?: I've never had to take my guitar to a luthier so I really don't know what they and can do and can't.
Edit: Sorry didn't see the Guitar Maintenace and Repair section
Need a bit more info.
What kind of electric, solid body or hollow?
Is the crack in the finish or all the way into the wood?
What kind of finish, paint under clearcoat or stain under laquer / poly?
What was the cost of the guitar so we can make a value judgement.
A picture might help.
If it is small and on an electric I say leave it be.

It's a solid body body guitar. I would like it to be fixed just cause I'm a little neat freak :P
i got a crack in my seagull acoustic once. it cost about $100 to fix. it was worth it. i think the crack could keep gettig bigger over time.
You can try a luthier or a local furniture refinishing shop.
The reason I mention the refinishing shop is that you don't have a problem with any portion of the guitar that makes music. You have a problem with the wood and finish. The refinisher might do a better job of repairing, and matching the finish so that no one will be able to pick out the repair. You unfortunately will always know where the problem was, and therefore, no matter how good the repair, will always be able to pick it out.
