I've got 10 including 2 lapsteels, a banjo and a mandolin. That's pretty much my limit, changing strings and maintenance starts to be a real chore at about 10  --the dog
One acoustic, one electric, one bass. That is all.
Any more and I don't really bond as much, and I'm really into that man-guitar relationship.
Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life...
Ok thats crazy i mean unless youre in a band worth mentioning - thats way overkill.
I was watching SKOM and the guitar tech that works for metallica said they had over 500 guitars.!!

And all the things you said to me
I need your arms to welcome me
But a cold stone's all I see
Let my heart go

Even in a band worth mentioning it's overkill, espescially if half of them have the same sound. Having five or so different guitars with a backup for each is way more then you'll ever need. Five hundred guitars are just to feed the ego of whomever owns it.
Check out Slash. He has a truckload of identical sunburst Gibson LPs. Does he really think it makes him hot?
Hey, guitars for everyone over 500 posts, and a few others also. I'll even throw the biggest party you've ever seen, I'll hire ZZ Top, Clapton, and anyone else who tickles our fancy to play at it and I'll fly you all in for free 8) 8) 8) --the dog
You da man Dog! (or should I say you da dog, man? )
I'm pulling for you, so I'd better go look through that dudes pics again & see what I want! How about getting The Stones, and as long as you've got Clapton, how about the rest of Cream?! 8)

I can't knock anyone for having a collection of anything. I wish I could be like Jay Leno and have that car/bike collection.

As soon as I saw the link pointing to Harmony Central, I thought BBreaker. That guy has over a hundred guitars and counting. Cool stuff though. Not sure where he keeps it all, but good for him!

I figured out a way to help my wife understand the need for multiple guitars... I told her we have 4 toilets in the house so what is wrong with an extra guitar or two... Really she does not care, but I use her as my excuse not to go get another... I'm twisted, I know...
I'll only be down there (in the basement practicing) for a couple of minutes or so...

I got to win that 360 mill. powerball Saturday
I think it would be a nice gesture if when you win your millions, you buy everyone here that has over say, 800 posts the guitar of their choice. 8)

BTW, my 800th post!

Perhaps you could carefully remind your wife how many shoes she has? So what is wrong with a few guitars? You only need one pair of shoes to walk around in.
What you do is to start looking at bass boats.....After she starts to think your half way serious say,,,hmmm...."I think I'll just buy a guitar instead
Well, I'm off to buy my lotto ticket
Remember, you can tune a guitar but you can't tuna fish
hummerlein and smokindog - you guy are awesome... Both are perfect... Although, I'm more into antique Porsches (356s and 911s) than bass boats, I'll just tell her I'm looking at another Porsche, then do the old switch-a-roo to the guitar...
Good luck on the ticket!!!

Went to see The Darkness in Manchester tonight - they seemed to change guitars every song, a fact I was careful to point out to the Mrs....I'm not GASsing at the moment, but when I do feel the need to add another, I'll be sure to remind her....
:D :D :D

I would rather be able to play a hundred songs well than be the owner of a hundred guitars 8)

Why can't guitarist be happy with one guitar ?
They always say they have to find "their voice" -
so isn't one enough ?
I have some - but each is different - one acoustic, flamenco, electric fender, dobro
Imagine what it would be if pianists would have gas - oh I have six pianos....
