You might wana try some Minor or 7 chords. Also maybe a diff strumming pattern might help

well, if you'll notice, Opeth likes to do alot of finger picking with their acoustics, you can also use a pick if you prefer, maybe try that too,.

evil = diminished chords
nicer evil = half diminished

other point

you dont get evil and sad sound from chords, its progressions..

if you play the note C and then E.. its major because of where you start..

add an A at the beginning ant its suddenly sad (minor) its about progressions not chords.. though certain types of chords are better in those progressions
