I am a self taught guitarist and I'm not sure what ones I should learn next I know....
A, Am, A7, A2, Bm, Bm7, C, C2, D, D2, Dsus, E, Em, E2, F, F2, Fsus, G and G2 I think thats all I know....
Dominants - A7, B7, C7 etc - and learn how they interact with tonic chords: G7 -> C for example. Then start sequencing them in ii-V-I patterns - Dm->G7-C and so on, which are common in jazz.
Then get to dominant extensions, which are built on "7" chords - C9, C11 and C13 and repeat for all other root notes.
After that, "maj7" chords - Cmaj7, Dmaj7 etc.
And then build on the maj7 chords to create "maj9" chords.
And then write a song. Too much theory in one hit ain't good for you.
"Be good at what you can do" - Fingerbanger"
I have always felt that it is better to do what is beautiful than what is 'right'" - Eliot Fisk
