Yes, Fmaj7 (or Am6 - same notes)

And the relative minor of F is D - so D minor pentatonic (D-F-G-A-C) will work just fine.

I love maj7 chords...first time I ever came across one was in "Band On The Run".....

That particular shape, I usually think of as a D7 shape a string lower.....

"Something" - the George Harrison song - starts with D, Dmaj7, D7....quite a few songs use the same sequence....Rod Stewart's "I was only joking" for instance.....

E 2 2 2
B 3 2 1
G 2 2 2
D 0 0 0
A 0 0 0
E 2 2 2 (or x x x )

That's a really nice sequence, and if you do it with an A shape chord, you can do it anywhere on the fretboard....

E 0 0 0
B 2 2 2
G 2 1 0
D 2 2 2
A 0 0 0
E 0 0 0 (or x x x)

Left to right, A, Amaj7, A7 ......

All you need is a barre, and practise the fingering, you can do that anywhere on the fretboard, it's a nice mellow run....
