ok i just learned how to play Simple Man (lynyrd Skynyrd) with guitar pro, but when i play it along it sounds totally out of key. I am playing exactly what is written in the tab, but the pitch is totally of. It also sounds off when i play with the song. My guitar is in tune i know for a fact, im really confused why it sounds like im playing in a different key.

the chord progresion that im doing is C G Am C

what gives?

Two things come to mind. Well actually three

1) your intonation is off

2) You are fretting to hard and pulling the strings out of tune.

3) I think the guitar needs to be tuned down a 1/2 step

I lean towards 3

Oh yeah, I lean towards 3 because they never play anything in standard tuning and the 1/2 step was just a guess so check the song out.

you mean the song is meant to be in tune a half step down?

im sure it cant be intonation or fretting, cause i just checked those right now and besides the pitches dont even sound close.

Yup, I don't have guitar pro but I just checked a power tab version and it is 1/2 step down tuning.

That was originally a guess on my part after I typed the first 2 options and didn't feel like deleting them.

It is, although you can't always hear it. Try plugging into a chromatic tuner, then hit a note and press the fret hard. It should go sharp.

When you slect the details of a GP track you'll see the tuning of the guitar, might help in the future. :D
