hey, i was wondering if it is possible to take a guitar cable (1/4 in.) and a pair of headphones (1/8 in.), cut the wires, and then somehow splice them together to work as headphones w/ a 1/4 in. plug?  I've alredy tried, but it didn't work, and i couldn't figure it out.

Stupidity is wit for the simple-I think I made that up

he wants to be able to hear his guitar directly with his headphones i think.

Its not possible, you need an amplifier somewhere there.  Try a headphone amp.

Or if thats not your purpose then just take the headphones and plug em in a 3mm to 1/4" adapter.

Just buy the adapter ..... Hit radioshack if you're in the U.S.

or they will sell you the 1/4" plug to solder on to your headphone wire, if you've already cut it.  Just tell them what you want and they will help you find the parts.

You'll need a stereo plug for the headphones.
