does anyone know of any good sites for stringing a guitar? (so basic i know!!)...I've tried googling some but they don't seem very helpful. the reason i ask is cuz i must not be doing it properly cuz every time i do, about a week later they break again. i think i leave too much slack up on the tuning peg but i can't seem to get it flush.

Good luck :)

Its really not a big thing, as you'll soon be doing it more and more and more... Its a good thing to learn also.

Start with the "Stringing and Cleaning Your Guitar" article by Alan Horvath, here: https://www.guitarnoise.com/article.php?id=300 .
Repeatedly breaking strings may be a sign that something's snagged up somewhere. I'd suggest looking at Frets.com, particularly http://www.frets.com/FRETSPages/Musician/GenSetup/StringBreakage/stringbreak1.html .

The more you do it the easier it get's. Is it an Acoustic or Electric? Are your strings breaking in the same place every time? As for sites try this String Change Or this String Change 2 for acoustic, and here for electric String Change 3 or here String Change 4

Here's another one from my website that might offer a couple of different ideas:

If you're breaking strings in a week, I'd look for a cause.
For instance, a burr in a metal part, or very cheap strings.

Also, a pencil is very good to have when stringing.
You use it to put graphite into the nut so that the strings slide easily.

One of these years, I'm going to change the strings on my strat. They're something like 7 years old, and the copper is worn through in places.
The problem is, I'd much rather play it!
