pick up idea

I have an idea for a different pick up. Working on it, what if you added a transformer 4.5 v and made a loop with a self wound pick up with magnet and tapped it (paralell) with 2 50k resistor to the amp. My peavey can handle 9v and I thought/think 4.5v will be safe. If the pickup winding wire is thicker than the stuff I have found on pickups it might work better.I am an electronic tech and know that the pickup uses electro magnet idea/technology and to sense the strings with very small wire does'nt make sense to me! : ) It could be that the older guitars that are looked for play better because the pickup winding wire is thicker. I am talking around 20 - 22 guage. I found some in a transformer and it is in good shape.
