I have inherited a vintage 1930's all steel National Resonator. from what I understand, this guitar does not have a truss rod. So I'm worried that the neck might not be able to take the pressure of standard steel strings. Any suggestion on what strings would be good to use with this guitar?

Thanks

Yes, it'll take standard strings just fine. It has no adjustable truss rod, but has a steel rod in the neck. What kind of music do you plan to play on it? Fretted, or sliding? Standard tuned, or open tunings?

Actually, all of the above. Although less slide that more. I will be playing alternate tunings. Mostly open G.

You'll find varying opinions. Many like standard medium acoustic strings (like the .013-.056" bronze strings modern National Resophonics ship with.) Many sliders like to put a heavier first string on.

If you want to ask a bunch of folks who're experienced with old Nationals what they like, go here:

Lots of antique National owners (and owners of antique Nationals) on that board.
