A couple of months ago you guys helped me out with a grounding problem for installing a single coil from a strat into my Epiphone AJ acoustic.
See: https://www.guitarnoise.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16897&highlight=ground+acoustic
I ended up using copper tape placed under the bridge to ground the strings, which worked perfectly, so thank you! All I needed was an input jack, a 250K volume pot, 1 single coil, and 24 inches of wire. I used a drill bit on my electric screwdriver to make the holes for the screws, volume pot, and input jack and widened them with a tapered reamer until they were the right size. I also had to cut 2 notches out of the top of the sound hole to fit the pickup against the neck. It's pretty noisy when I'm not touching the strings because nothing is shielded at all, but it gets a really nice sound when plugged in. I'm thinking about getting a normal acoustic pickup so I can run the two in stereo. One with distortion or flange and one clean. I'm very happy with how it turned out. It made my little Epi a whole lot cooler. Peace.

I can just imagine what was going through your head when you were drilling
"What am I doing? Oh my god what I am doing? This isn't gonna work..."
I wanna see pics of this setup, it sounds cool.
Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.
Well, keep in mind it's a starter Epi I got for $60, so if something had gone wrong I just would have resorted to duct tape :-)
I have a gig tonight, but I'll post some pics tomorrow night.

Wow, I missed that whole original thread! Great ideas all. I had put a leftover Strat pup in my Epi AJ 12-string last year and though I didn't use the ideas posted for grounding or mounting - I made a cardboard soundhole disk through which the pickup protruded - I can say that it gave me a REAL 60s electric 12-string twangy sound. I love that sound! I've got one of those Markley soundhole pickups, but the sound of a Strat pup - it's incredible.
I love that idea of the copper sticky tape - which I use on other guitars (got a roll of 'slug-repellent' tape from the garden shop) - because you can place it anywhere.
Take care folks - great threads!
Well, not very exciting, but here are pics.

Ha. I think that looks awesome, nice job man (...unless you're a broad in which cause, nice job dude.)

You did a nice job. When you were going through this awhile back I could not envision it coming out so nice.
Yes, nice work. Good to see it worked out for you.

Aw, thanks guys. Actually I was kind of surprised at how well it came out myself.
