I've just bought a Taylor 314 and I've noticed that the G-string seems to play louder and longer than the others. It makes it sound a tad odd sometimes when playing chords.

Its possible its me, its possible its my playing, but I thought I'd ask just in case theres something amiss.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

The "G" string is the strangest on the guitar...First off, it does have a lot of tension, but most oddly, it doesn't tune to a true G...It's just a little off...

G strings, can't live with 'em, can't play without 'em...

Are you saying its normal then?

That makes me feel a tad better. I guess I should take the guitar to a tech somewhere, just to be on the safe side, and get it all checked out.

Thanks for the reply,

Rich.

How much tension it's got on it is a function of the string gauge. If it's not tuned quite to a G, you're not tuning it right.
