This is my take on a not-very-common Christmas carol, the Christ Child's Lullabye (or lullaby, if you prefer.)
Doug Sparling's lesson is in the key of D; I'm using G.
The recording sounds a little garbled in the first 15 seconds or so; I guess I need to buy some fresh tapes. Also there are a handful of mistakes; please forgive.
The fingerstyle guitar pattern is what I'll be playing in church in a couple weeks, accompanying a solo female singer. For the mandolin part, I'm basically playing the vocal melody line.
These are the lyrics, for those not familiar with it:
My love, my treasured one are you
My sweet and lovely son are you
You are my love my darling new
Unworthy I, of you.
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Your mild and gentle eyes proclaim
The loving heart with which you came
A tender, helpless tiny babe
With boundless gifts of grace.
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
King of Kings, Most Holy One
God the Son, Eternal One
You are my God and helpless son
High ruler of mankind.
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
Alleluia!
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
beautiful. your strings sound nice.
what a pleasing melody and counterpart.
should sound wonderful in church.
I really like the "Celtic" sound to this song.
Very impressive Mitch. Hope you do just as well when you play it at church. :D

Hey thanks guys.
Dan, yeah I'm very happy to be able to finally bring a Celtic-style tune to church; I was thinking about doing a DADGAD arrangement of this song too, but you've got my DVD.
