We all know Stairway, and there are any number of Tabs out there that are as good or as bad as each other.

You've not been playing guitar very long, if I read your first (other) post right, so Stairway is way above your level of ability right now. I'd suggest you head over to our very own lessons pages and get stuck in.

I know Stairway is generally considered one of those songs that most beginning guitar players learn.

The problem is that they are either learning a very simplified version or only the intro/easier parts.

I suggest that you put that song aside for now and pick it up later when you can try to learn it all the way through, accurate to the original. Use it as a goal song... "I want to learn Stairway in x months, but not until I have the necessary skills to do it justice".

By the way... you will get kicked out of most music stores for playing Stairway... just kidding :D (or am I?)

If you have Microsoft Word, I have a pretty good version that I did a while back. I spent days getting it laid out in a nice format. It's 5 pages of print and won't translate to plain text very well. You can download it here...

I wish they would add Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" to that list.

Start with the early ones - She Loves You, Hard Day's Night, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and go from there

If you have Microsoft Word,

If you don't, just download OpenOffice. It's as good as Word, but 100% cheaper (i.e. free)

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Just a few of many:

Come Together:
A & D shuffle
"5" chords (or full barres) on these passages
G5 (1x & rest)
One thing I can tell you is you got to be free
B5 6x A5 3x G5 4x A5 1x
Come together right now………… over me

Eleanor Rigby: C Em Em6 Em7
Get Back: A & D shuffle
Hey Jude:
F C
Hey Jude, don't make it bad
F C7 F
take a sad song and make it better
Bb F
Remember to let her into your heart
C F
and then you can start to make it better

F C
Hey Jude, don't be afraid
F C7 F
you were made to go out and get her
Bb F
The minute you let her under your skin
C F F7
then you begin to make it better

Bb Bb/A Gm
And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude refrain
Gm7 C F F7
don't carry the world upon your shoulders

Easier version:
D---------------------A
Hey Jude, don't make it bad,
---------A7----------------------D
Take a sad song and make it better.
---G------------------------------D
Remember to let her into your heart,
----------------A7---------------D
Then you can start to make it better.

Verse 2 ...

Bridge 1:

------------------------------G
And any time you feel the pain,
-----D---- Em
Hey Jude refrain,
-------G---------A7---------------- D----------A7
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.
--------------------------------G
For well you know that it's a fool

Lady Madonna:
E7sus4 is 020200

Verse 1
A D A D
Lady Madonna, children at your feet,

Wonder how you manage to make ends meet?
A D A D

A D A F G A
Did you think that money was heaven sent?

Bridge 1
Dm7 G7
Friday night arrives without a suitcase,
C Am7
Sunday morning creeping like a nun.
Dm7 G7
Monday's child has learned to tie his bootlace,
C Bm7 E7sus4 E7
See how they run!

Let It Be:
intro:

C G Am F (Dm/F) <--Paul plays this chord on the piano,
C G F C G C but most guitarists will just hold out F

C G
When I find myself in times of trouble,
Am F
Mother Mary comes to me,
C G F C G C
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
C G
And in my hour of darkness,
Am F
She is standing right in front of me,
C G F C G C
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.

Am G F C
Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be.
C G F C G C
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Ob-la-di Ob-la-da
Play this with a capo on the first fret. It may work without a capo; this guy doesn't use a capo and plays these chords (Brazilian Portuguese version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiyf7OfYMoA ). Patati Patata is a nonsensical Brazilian Portuguese phrase, I am told.
Intro: |A |A |A |A ||

A E
Desmond has a borrow in the market place,
E7 A
Molly is a singer in the band.
D
Desmond says to Molly, girl, I like your face
A E A
And Molly says this as she takes him by the hand,

Chorus:
(A) E F#m7
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, life goes on__bra.
A E A
La-la how their life goes on.
(A) E F#m7
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da, life goes on__bra.
A E A
La-la how their life goes on.

Just on principle I don't think I want to learn Stairway to Heaven or Smoke on the Water  (not that there's much to learn in Smoke on the Water).

What I found really helpful .... enough so that I can play what's taught in these 2 videos is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlXAtDA9xgo&feature=related

The second part is also listed there.

When I first started (being a beginner) my fingers cramped up just trying to finger the first three chords.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
