Just a short tune I did while trying to capture the vibe that might come
from Scriabin and Satriani...if they had a train wreck.

Nice playing, sounded very cool. I liked just about everything about it. The soloing was very tasteful too i found. Good Work. :)

Alright, I had a listen to both of them. Production-wise they sound pretty good, I also like the concept. However, the solo/lead parts are completely sailing a boat of their own - they really don't follow the rhythm guitar which, by the way is very low in volume compared to the rest. Shredding is not all about the speed - you've gotta hit notes that make sense.
I'd recommend Dream Theater's "Train of Thought" for inspiration - especially the song "This Dying Soul", which has some amazingly contructed lead parts.
Just my $0.02.

 I disagree 100%...but that's what opinions and forums are for...
Chaos.
A suggestion to study another Guitar player for a piece....?
When you can suggest something besides another common
shred guitar player...come back and try again.
I'm not out to sound like another "shred-head" devotee to Petrucci or
anyone else for that matter. I don't even like "shred". To me it's a
bunch of...music-less crap...for the most part.
There are a few exceptions.
Bleh...not worth arguing over...
Try studying up on Scriabin.
You might see what I was after...
If not...it's your journey...not mine.

He might be just another "shred-head" - fine, but at least it's someone you can learn alot from. Stop whining and have a listen.
You are right on one thing. Many shred parts are "music-less" - they're technical for the only sake of being technical. What I wanted to point you to was a lead part that, however technical, was also emotional, had some musical "sense".

With that statement I can already tell you that you're lost. But... whatever floats your boat - this is only my opinion. Have fun.
