I have a small jack to jack cable, and a 1/8th inch to quarter inch adaptor so i plugged it in and had a go at recording. Because the cable is stereo I ended up with one tracl of music, the other of hiss, i had to convert it to mono.
It aint much but it was fun. I recorded using Audacity-man thats some good free software!!
Notch filter used to cut out hiss.

Congrats on the new guitar, Minorkey.
The tone in the sound sample sounds quite harsh. Maybe the input is too hot and you're getting some digital distortion/clipping?
I don't use Audacity, so I can't talk specifics, but there must be some way to monitor the initial input signal. Double check it's not going into the 'red zone'.

I have Audacity and there are meters. All in all not bad for a first go though. It does take a little messing around with the levels but you can get some pretty good results.

Thanks guys, there are level meters there but the problem is the input was quite low. .And yet it would go to the red now and then.
I forgot I had a volume control on the guitar itself, duh me! Will try that later but altho it has monitoring as an option you can't hear the guitar till after youve recorded something. This recording of guitar is new to me! Ive recorded keyboards in the past using the same method...

Consider yes. Have no! I use what I have available on the spur of the moment!
