Thanks to the most excellent posts by Isabelle, Dylan Barrett, Stellabloo, Jenny B, and other beginners too numerous too mention I have worked up the courage to record and post a song. While I call it "I Ain't Got the Blues", it is actually me improvising over a blues backing track in the key of C. I just plugged it in and played what I felt. Please, no smart remarks about you must have felt like crap

First, the facts. I'm a middle-aged guy who bought my first guitar about 1 1/2 years ago and I have no prior musical training/experience. Yes, the mix is muddy but I've learned a great deal since I made this recording (first take) over the Thanksgiving holiday. I also recognize that I hit some real dirt clods in there and bits are slightly out of time.

Now that you have the facts, I'm going to temper that with some truths. I'm QUITE proud of myself for having come this far. Just like when someone makes a cross country trip by car, there are stages to the journey. I feek like I have finally backed out of my driveway and started driving down the street. There is still a long way to go until I reach the highway, much less my destination, but I am on my way.

Thanks for listening and reading,
Dwayne

You did a great job! I've been playing 2 years and I'm figuring out that the best way to improve is a) play with others and b) record stuff and put it out there for critique.

Dwayne

I agree with the others, it was very good. :D

You have a very good sense for phrasing which is what most players lack.

Keep up the great work.

Those double stops at the start are killer, man. Forget the 'pulling out of the driveway' analogy, you jumped in head first! Great passion and great musicality. I really enjoyed your playing.

Great soloing! I agree with all the previous comments.

One suggestion - try to have the backing track and your guitar on a more even volume level. I could barely hear the backing track, and your guitar sounded all alone at times. Just something to work on for the next one. :D
