I can,t do cartwheels !!! ........ No if you are new to playing then alot of things do seem like a long way off. But as soon as you start to unlock the mystery of the fingerboard it starts to become easyer. The guitar repeats its self the best thing to do is write out one Major scale (Ionion) on a diagram of the fingerboard. Just put a big black dot for each note on the full length of the neck and just look at it for a month.!!!! ....you can link those notes and find chords, any group of notes will work. Try playing whilst looking at the chart and let your eyes tell you what note to play next. You will soon find yourself playing new ideas...................Make a chart for the other modes of the major scale and BINGO it all looks the same......Thats what I mean about the guitar repeating its self, If you learn one scale only you can use it like a slide rule. I,m going to try some cartwheels now if I brake my hand I,m getting back to you.
Thanks to everyone for listening and seeing through the LoFi cassette recording ......Some of you mention the 80s, Jason Becker and Steve Vai. Well thats all fine by me it was recorded in 1990 and Vai and Becker are great in my book but these days I,m playing more fusion music. I hope to post some more up to date music soon. :D
