And that's another tastefull soundscape. 8) I really like all the little sounds appearing and dissapearing everywhere. How do you get those? The stereoplacements are even more impressive with headphones, for those listening on pc speakers.

Ignar I have a massive sound palette as in a Motif Rack ES on the hard side and the software side its extensive. Dimension Pro for the pad on this track, Motif for the choir Ooohs and Aaahs in the second half. Percussion VST's Stylus Remix and ChineeKong V2 (That is full of genuine Chinese percussion instruments). On the instrument side R Hand Harp of the Motif, Chinese lute off ChineePipa VSTi and Chinese Zither off ChineeGuzheng VSTi both come with a superb soundbanks of the original instrument.

This is all keyboard generated and I normally start with laying down a chord sequence to trigger a pad. Wanted to lay some guitar down on it but it just didn't fit in. I work pretty quickly this was basically done yesterday but spent some time today doing the final mix.

Holy cow, you must be one happy musician with that Motif! I tried it once but even on special discount actions it's way over a grand. Seemed worth every penny but a bit out of my range. I'll check out those Chineekong plugs, never saw them around here but you sure make them sound amazing. Thanks for the info. much appreciated. :D

http://www.chineekong.com/ they have some nice audio demos of each plugin and I have five at the moment. Mainly because my publisher said he wanted me to do more Chinese sounding tracks plus I actualy like Chinese and Japanese music. I lived in the Far East for two years many years ago and was always fascinated by the music then.

I just went through a Sweetwater catalog looking at the software and hardware you have. they are a higher end dealer and have products reaching thousands. to be sure, the user and maker, you Gerry, possess considerable talent ; with those tools no wonder the results sound soooo good.
that said, a tool is just a tool. the person behind the tool is most important. and my ears tell me you wield those tools beautifully. maestro, salut !

I guess I have picked up a bit of gear over the years and sadly some of it sits unused these days like my Roland GR30 Guitar Synth which really got me started into recording via midi. A Johnson J Station (first got me hooked on guitar modellers) and a Vox Tonelab sit in there boxes as they have now been made redundant by the Tonelab LE. Guitars have come and gone and now I have four LOL. Plugins come and go too and whilst I use most I have one or two failures in my studio SaxLab being one of them.

Perhaps the main tool is Sonar Producer Edition which without it I really could not make the music that I do. Sure there are others like Cubase, Samplitude, Logic etc but I was weened on Sonar and have grown with it and into it. The search for perfection is a long and constant one and to achieve anything like it you do really have to get some reasonable kit.

The fact is my set up is fairly basic as apart from the Motif Rack ES I have a simple audio Interfase an Edirol UA-25. I use an ordinary Stero/Hi Fi sytem for monitoring (No Studio Monitors). I guess the real trick is knowing what to use and when or put another way what works and what doesn't. Now that is what takes time and the reall buzz is that I learn something new almost everyday, you can throw enormous amounts of money at a studio and still make bad recordings. It really is how you use what you have and not what you have but there comes a time you just have to invest in some basic decent equipment to achieve it. Long way of saying thanks my friend.

you have a nice system; simple and functional. you do wonders with it. I hope to get there someday.

I have been looking for a Johnson station for awhile. they have been out of production for some time. I don't see them on ebay.
are you attached to yours? I am interested in a purchase.

You would be more than welcome to have it my friend but I suspect the transport to the States would add up to more than they now sell for on EBay.

That sounds like an M1 or K2000 or some other sort of DX7 clone. As for the song, another soundsscape as i expected. You must do a lot of film scoring. If not you should. I'll look for you in the credits from now on. Nice work.
