I posted up a live recording of "My City" a while back... here's a more "studio" version recorded in our jam room with some production work done on it. Also another song from the same session. "Amphibian". Both are SSG tunes.

Really good stuff, Marv. These are going in my sound library and will be in rotation. Post more when you've got 'em...

Yeah great atmosphere. Nice production. Catchy hook. My city is a winner all around. Love the bass on amphibian. Is that a triggered sound or some sort of weird octaver? Whatever it is it sounds really cool. Kinda reminds me of Radiohead but not as much of a Pink floyd wannabe sound. Very cool.

The bass sound there was actually done by recording a "normal" bass track.. then fattening it up by bouncing the track through a guitar amp emulator then sort of messing with the levels of the two bass tracks side by side to get that sorta dirty, sorta clean sound. Oh.. im also playing the root and the 5th on the bass through the intro instead of single notes.

Also in the background of that intro and the ending is a looped sample of a pond heavily populated with various vocal wildlife. that's tossed on a few different delays and pitch shifted in various directions.

The bridge is an analog modeling synth (Korg EA-1) just playing random notes and twiddling nobs... there's a guitar twisted all to hell on top of that. I'd have to ask my guitarist what al went into making that noise...

I wasnt quite clear on what sound you were talkinga bout so I explained all of them.. sorry about the longwindedness.

Great production. Guitar sounds good and raunchy. Mix is really nice. Nothing gets lost. Great tune.

the drum sound lets this down.... lose the durm machine or learn to mic a kit up properly as this has let down an otherwise very good song.

There wasn't a drum machine but yeah.. my drummer's kit sounds a little weak to begin with and we just threw the mics on there. I was using an 8 track so the drums were run through a mixer and then into a stereo pair so there was no way to do any level changing or any kind of tweaking.

We're going into a pro studio ( http://www.maximedia.us ) Jan 12th and then i wont have to worry about being producer and engineer and all that... should be fun.
