EDIT: New version uploaded. Same link. It's also on my myspace page

Howdy

I am not too much of a detail oriented guy. This song is very new. I was noodling around with some chords sunday night. Yesterday I got this idea for a song, and I found out I had the chords already. Yesterday night I finished the lyrics in norwegian, and this morning I found out I could make an english version too. Haven't done many takes. Consider it a draft. But I would love some input and maybe suggestions. I was thinking violin intro and one verse, but after having done the intro I found out I have to practice a lot... Just a quick guitar part - nothing fancy I know.

Anyway - not every day is a good one - but if it makes me write songs it is (almost) worth it

(and obviously I have lifted a line from Dylan again. But I've had it in my sig for a long time already and I haven't heard him complaining :) (lyrics below))

A rainy day

It's raining again and it's so dark
I have almost forgotten the sun
It seems like I am the only one around
Will I find my way home?

Sometimes there's a strip of light breaking through
For a split of a second there is light
But it happens very rarely when the weather is like this
I am loosing my sight

But I keep on keepin' on
That's the only thing I do
And it's a long long road
That's the only thing I know
But I get tired

I am wondering how far I'll have to go
There's no one here to ask
This place is all deserted - except for fear and pain
But I've been here before - out in this rain

And I keep on keepin' on
That's the only thing I do
And it's a long, long road
That's the only thing I know
And I am tired

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...

Hi Lars. This is really good. I feel it.

Suggestions? Not really. I actually like what you were trying to do with the into. Sounded a bit off, maybe. Maybe that's a bad word. I can only describe it as being almost as if it needed maybe a half note higher climax or something. I really don't know how to describe it or even what to describe. Perhaps someone else can chime in.

So, wow. This is another great original that's been floating around here lately. I'm thoroughly impressed.

Finally!
I haven't found anything to add to my iPod for more than 3 weeks.
(iPods are great when you're doing yard work or painting. . . especially painting)
Now you need to upload it somewhere where I can download it

The intro? The violin was maybe a little too "out front" (loud) with regard to the guitar.
Great job Lars.
Thanks for posting it.
Looking forward to more . . . especially the vocals (with harmony).

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.

Thanks guys!
The violin thing is an experiment. I haven't been practicing it for almost 20 years. I struggled with hitting the top note with a glissando - violins are fretless BTW  I will nail that later. (on a side note: a really fun thing with violin for me is that I don't have to think scales or notes or patterns or anything like I tend to do on the guitar. I can play straight from the head so to speak)

ANd kenrogers - it should be possible to download it :D

Oh yeah. Sorry Ken. I forgot to mention. On IE, just right-click the link and select "Save Target As". Probably something similar if using other browser.

bravo. yeah, this is good. I had to turn up my speakers. you did a good job. I like the tracks. the lyrics
are cool and the delivery was there. I wanted more violin. the guitar taking the lick surprised me. you played it well.
it was made for violin IMHO. I am envious you can play one. I have one and it makes scary sounds.
Lars, I really liked it. :note2:

Thanks dogbite :) You get your will, there is more violin now at least - in a new version on the same link. I have to practice much more...

But overall I'm quite happy with it :D

That's a pretty nice composition. Now I wanna hear the norwegian version...
Haven't done many takes. Consider it a draft.

You are certainly not alone. If it weren't for drafts, no one would ever post anything.

I loved it.
The song hit home for me on so many levels.
Don't stop writing and composing, Lars, you will be wasting a great gift if you stop.

Lars,
I loved it. Like the others, I thought the violin was wonderful. The chord progression was very good too. This is a keeper for me!! Thanks for sharing it!

Understanding your lyrics literally, I only could add this: You must visit us more frequently, we have a lot of sunny days per year!

I like the violin, too, but I prefer the licks with the guitar.

Nice job Lars! 8)

Thanks for sharing.
