Well, bout time I put out another original song, eh?

This is called Piece of Junk, it is a bluesy little number about my car...Which I hate.

The lyrics are kind of meaningless, albeit true.

The guitar was done in one take, so there may be a few mistakes in there, but that's the way I like to record. Solos are improvised. "Rhythm" part I wrote out, wrote out the bassline.

Arjen was nice enough to give me a drum track, as well as put the bassline into midi form with the drums. And we had planned on him mixing it all together but he's gone for two weeks and I can't wait any longer.

I'm sure I'll be going back and re-recording the vocals after some suggestions from you guys.

I take it everyone is having this problem?

Edit: Give it one more shot, it's already got a comment on dmusic, so it's got to be working now.

Well, it worked for me.

After listening to that song I say we need to get a "GET TASO A NEW CAR" fund going.

Grooving job, man.

Great 3 pc band. Didn't miss the rhythm guitar during your lead. Very cool. 8)

If I had any constructive thing to say it would be that it doesn't seem like the bass is following the drums as much as it should. Therefore, there seems to be more than one groove going on for me. Maybe fewer notes in the bass line?

oh man. you been hiding from us. this is junkyard dog good.
the tone is great and I like your notes alot!. really interesting.
up and down the neck I could hear how good the guitar was sounding; a good display.
solid playing.
towards the end I felt you warmed up and the playing sounded really hot.
you got some pinchies around 7:00. that stuff is the best.
I am not blessed with a killer voice. but heck I got to sing!
the singing on everyone's posts is all right.
we won't win any trophies tho.
but I got to sing!

this is a good song. it is going on my CD burn for sure.
lots to listen to.
I could play rhythm behind you for hours dude.
nice

:) :) :)

Hey it sounds pretty good, it did seem like the guitar could have a bit more attitude, not so much what you play but how you play it.

That sounded really good to me, and I ain't just saying that. I'm not that into this kinda pure blues but I really dug it.

I thought the bass was a little quiet, both on my speakers and my headphones, but it's purely a mixing issue. I felt like there were some very small timing issues with the guitar in places, not sure if it was the guitar or the bass like Bish had mentioned. I know you mentioned you did it in one take, so maybe you already would notice them. The only other issue I might mention is just that 8 minutes is kind of long to me. Not that there's anything wrong with a long song, but there's sometimes a lot be gained from editing a work down to its strongest parts.

I thought the guitar and the song itself were really damn good, I definitely enjoyed it. The fact that the solos were improvised would NOT jump out at me if you hadn't said so, I thought they sounded killer. I hope I can improvise solos like that in the not too hugely distant future!

Great job. I have to say though, the timing needs a bit of work. Just a little tweaking and it will sound great.

Taso,

Nice job, there were a couple notes in te beginning that were off but once you got going nice groove.

Sounds a little John Mayerish.

Bish, thanks man, if you guys want to get that fund going, I wouldn't have any sort of "pride" issues with it, so feel free

Dogbite, thanks for the kind words sir :)

Dneck - yeah, I'm not sure what specifically you are referring to, but the first time I heard this backing, I got so into it that I was sweating by the end of it, when I recorded, this wasn't the case - maybe I was tired, or just concentrating on not making any mistakes. I agree with you though.

Thanks Jonesey

Voidious - yeah, bass is a little quiet. One of the things Arjen has to help me out with, although he did point me to cubase but I'm too dumb to use it :P And I'm pretty sure its the guitar timing that there is a problem with - lol, the first chord is out of time...Kind of makes me chuckle everytime I hear it, because I could have just pressed "stop" and re-did it, not sure why I didn't. Thanks for the comment

Yeah Hue, aside from that first chord, I know there are a few more spots where its like "what the flip!" but I was hoping with the vocals being so god awful no one would notice

Babs, John Mayerish eh? *Throws guitar out window* just kidding :P thanks bud.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!

Any other suggestions/etc before I go and fix these timing issues?

Taso,

It does sound a bit like him, but that's a compliment the boy can play!

Taso, I only can add one thing: Yeaaah! 8)

I like very much when the drums goes partially over the rest (starting around 2'10''-2'20'' and keeping during the solos). It makes this part has more "power". Very nice resource.

Thanks for sharing.
