Many of you who've been around a while have heard this. I was just starting to learn the Star Spangled Banner when the September 11, 2001 attacks occurred, and over the next couple of years I evolved a commemorative version of the tune. In three parts, it's intended to tell a story. The first, rather conventional arrangement, represents America going about "business as usual." It's interrupted at the very end by two big "explosions." There follows a minor key arrangement intended to evoke the period of national shock and mourning that followed. It then morphs (with a brief quotation from Nazareth's "Hair of the Dog" riff) into an upbeat, happy version reflecting my belief that we'd bounce back from the experience better and stronger. It's tough to record and get a perfect cut. I decided to go with "not too bad" so I could get it up by the 9/11 anniversary!

Seven years...

Very nice arrangement. And nice explanation, too. I like very much the way in which you skip from a part to the next. The final part brings a new hope.

Great job!

Thanks for sharing.

Really nice ricochet, great arrangement, great idea. I'm not sure I agree that we've come back better and stronger, but still, I like the sentiment behind it, and your playing brings out the emotions you mentioned.

The only thing I'd suggest is the part from 5:20-5:23 needs some bass notes to it, in my opinion.

Thanks!

I'll have to go back and see what's at 5:20-5:23. --Yeah, I see. Well, that's just the way I'd picked out to do it, mainly for contrast, but it might be better with bass. I'll have to try it and see.

I don't know how I missed this one.
Great job, Rico.
What I'd like to hear is banjo with that . . .
Vic with his Telecaster doing a Jimi Hendrix number would be fun too.

It's the rock that gives the stream its music . . . and the stream that gives the rock its roll.
