Whoa, ok, now I thought id try this song after hearing Gaz do it... Boy was that a bad idea. The music is probably the best ive ever done so I am happy about that. But the vocals, good lord they are awful. I dont know why, its probably just out of my range, but im gonna record new vocals tomorrow. Im gonna do them my way too, not the Coldplay way, thats way too high for me. I suppose that was my mistake, doing it the coldplay way...

Anyways. This was all done this evening, started at around 7 or 8. Took a 2 hour break at around 10 to eat food and to mess around on guitar. Then I kept at it. It was all done through my PODxt with the left output sent straight to my Lexicon Omega USB interface. The piano (which took me the bulk of the time to learn) was my Yamaha DGX-500 as was the strings... The drums were my friends drums. I recorded them first because I didnt want it to get too late. The guitars were both my Variax 500. The acoustic was the 1st setting on the Variax acoustic setting, and the electric was the 1st setting on the Variax semi setting. The bass was my bassist's bass (a 2005 Epiphone Thunderbird Reverse IV). I guess thats about all. The voice was mine sadly to say.

I tried this song to try to strech myself musically. I have barely ever played piano, Ive never recorded myself playing drums, and I had to read sheet music to do the strings... another first. I really wanted to strech myself vocally (and i also did on guitar, that Csus4/F is a killer! Yikes!) and I suppose I did. Didnt really meet the bar, the bar basically smacked me right in the face. Anyways. Listen, critique, if the vocals are that terrible then wait a bit (or not if the new one is already up).

Oh yeah, and I was too tired by the time this was done to acutally mix. I just played with panning and put some reverb on the vocals. Still gotta EQ. Ok cool, thanks.

The piano sounds great... the singing is a little flat. The guitar and bass sound good too. Good luck recording your version.
