No matter how hard I try, I can't seem to duplicate the recording I got from this track...bar far, in my opinion, my best track ever, playing as well as post production.
I don't know how it all came together, but I know I had to do very little as far as leveling and EQing for this track. I did add a bit of reverb....but damn, I keep going back to this track and thinking "is that really me?"

So I'm just wondering, what are your best recordings that you have, and why is it your best? What is your "is that really me playing?" moment.

My best recordings are the ones I did with Dogbite. I listen them every now and then and I have the same feeling. It is different because I only played the bass and he played guitars and sang. When I listen I also say "that bass sounds good."
btw, nice piece.
I remember those....they were awesome....do you have any links to them to post up for old times sake? :)

They are in the Dogbite's SoundClick.
Probably our best song was Color of the Blues. It was #1 in the Country Blues list and #2 in the general Blues list:

But surely we had much more fun with 96 Tears. We recorded two different versions: a cover of the original garage rock (it was #2 in its sub-genre) and a lounge jazz version (it also was #2 in its list):

In my solo career (lol) I like July, an original song. Arjen did some strings arrangements over my chord progressions and also added lyrics in Dutch! This is a link to the original recording:

Well as a player a lot closer to a beginner, then a experanced player.... a recording that pretty much comes together without too many flubs, and almost kinda sounds like the song is good for me!!! I do record some of my songs. Mostly as a training aid... give me a book mark in time to go back to to see how I advanced.
This is probably my best track... One of the first times I got some singing along with the playing.... so a few more flubs then normal.... and just starting to sing what I play, so still working to find my voice.... but at this time, and level of my skill Im pretty happy with it.

Sorry about the bad recording.... Still need to work on my recording setup... Just using a Ipod at this time.

Point of Exit - this one's been really popular - http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10515179
I played Point of Exit to a student this afternoon, and I'm still gobsmacked with what I achieved using a portable 4-track, one acoustic guitar, one electric guitar and my rubbish voice.
