Acoustic Guitar Mic Choice/Placement

Okay, I'm gonna experiment with some acoustic recording in the next couple of days and I wondered if any GNers have favourite mic choices and placement ideas they think I should try out in my project for the best sound. I'll try out all the suggestions.

I can use....
SM57 dynamic
SM58 dynamic
Large diaphragm condenser (have pre with phantom power)
Match pair small diaphragm condensers

But...I only have one mic stand (for now).

I get best results on my D-15 with a large diameter condenser (AT 2020) aimed at the fretboard where the neck joins the body. Experiment with distance to control the room ambiance, you may want it anywhere from 3 to 18 inches away. Having someone to move the mic for you while you're in playing position is really helpful, that way you can play and listen through headphones and instruct them where to move the mic.

One note: you can aim the mic anywhere on the guitar, but it's best to avoid aiming directly at the soundhole unless you're looking for a very boomy, bassy sound.

I have used both SM57 znd a wide condenser to mic my resonator. I have less ambient or room noise with the SM57.
both mics however replicate the instrument well. placement is important.
when I want more sparkle or brightness I have the mic pointing to the bridge area.
when I want big round tones the mic is where the fret board hits the body.
