If you present them with a faulty unit, they will take it back even if you install the software.

If you go to M Audio website, you can download the drivers for free! So having the software on your PC means nothing if the hardware doesn't work!

Return the unit, get another one and report back to us.

lol. I hope it works out for you. Regarding pops and crackles, this usually can be resolved by adjusting your audio buffers. You'll need to access the Fast Track's control panel.

Um...I don't know how to say this, but I've been singing halelujah for the last hour because I decided that when I called tech support, I wanted it to be about the probs I've been having with my new computer, so I plugged it in and gave it one more try and it worked perfectly and I'm so happy and I realized that my voice sounds funny recorded! I'm so flippin jazzed!

I don't know why it worked, though. That's the only downside.

So booyah grandma, there will probably be a posting on Hear Here in a couple weeks!

Thanks, though, for helping me out because now I know what all the settings are supposed to be at on the comp, which I probably would have had a problem with down the road.

Glad you got it working :D I can relate, My VCR still flashes 12:00 am  I had been looking at buying the same thing, but after reading the reviews on MF and your thread I think I might hold off a bit.

My Gear, at the bottom of the first page is the link to the second page which is my very little studio.

I've heard quite a few negative things about the Fast Track unit. As you can see with my set up, the Fast Track would have fit in nicely because I have a nice size mixer with phantom power and more...... so the MobilePre is alittle over the top for what I need, BUT I bought it because it got great reviews and the Fast Track got bad reviews.

I could have gone in a diferent direction if I wanted, but I picked what I did and I'm VERY happy with it! Plus, it was only $50 more, if you look at the reviews, the $50 was well spent!

The MobilePre is a the top of my desk, as you can see, it doesn't look like the MF pic, I think it looks a lot better.

The new computer that the Fast Track just started to work on is an HP Pavilion. The other computer with audio dropout problems is a Dell. I saw the bad reviews, too. It was too late, though. I had already bought it.

I would save up the $50 for the pre-mobile if I were you. It took 3 days worth of headaches to get the Fast track to work.

I have a new HP pavilion also, I think that other folks have had similar issues with them, maybe because of the front panel access ports :?: sorry you had all those problems  I hope It works out for you now. I can't wait to hear your recordings!--the dog

Sorry Whitney,

I tried everything that I could to get you're unit to work before I said return it. I am VERY happy that you finally got it to work. Strange about your situation isn't it (doesn't work now, does today :? )? I wish you happy recordings and can't wait to hear your first recording!

If you need any help with anything, you know which forum to come to. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here!

Dog,

What can I say, . Mine is hand sketched by an extremely talented artist in my area. I love the Stooges and HAD to buy it for its beauty alone!

I have to say, I'm sorry. I think I recommended the Fast Track in the first place. I didn't expect so many problems.

Stop apologizing guys! I'm happy now. My first recording is going to kick butt! Well, at least kick butt for someone who started a month ago! I don't care, I'm just excited!

I figure the problems with my HP Pavilion probably only had to do with my output settings on the front panel, etc.. Now that I had that stuff down, I'm good to go. Thanks again!
