I am recording using Cubase, my audio interface is Lexicon. I had been exporting my tracks to MP3 with the program.
suddenly I ran out of the twenty gratis conversions that came with the unit. I have searched everywhere, followed every prompt, but can not find where to upload, up grade, purchase, order more thingies to export to MP3.
anyone know where?
are there other MP3 suppliers?
would there be a compatibility problem with my recording software?, PC?
I searched this for a topic, did I remember it here?
Hi Dogbite,
Audacity can also export as MP3. You can export from Cubase to a format that can be imported in Audacity. Maybe WAV or AIFF. Audacity needs the LAME encoder.
For Cubase upgrades, check this site: http://www.steinbergupgrades.com/

Hi Dogbite
Cubase exports in .wav file format , or ?
Windows MediaPlayer 10 and 11 converts .wav to .mp3.
Audacity also converts .wav to .mp3 (if using the free lame mp3 encoder = lame_enc.dll).

I use CDex. It'll convert both ways, to and from mp3.

I have Audacity and the Lame encoder.I have Windows Media Center.
so I bettr check that menu pop up more closely...thanks y'all.

well, my Windows Media only makes DVDs and CDs. no WAV or MP3.
I cannot figure out how to send stuff to Audacity which does have lame encoder.
it seems redundant to have one recording program and send that recording to another recording program to make an MP3.
someone said they have the orginal Cubase Le MP3 updater patch and would send it to me. I hope.
I checked out CDex and that looks interesting. I have not downloaded anything yet.
but maybe.
Hi Dogbite,
Just open the .wav file in Audacity. In my version: File and then Open. Then export as MP3 (also in the File menu) as usual.

the trouble I am having deepens. I cannot export ; neither WAV, MP3, or anything with Cubase.
I need the refill.
but this must be crazy. there has to be a way.
I don't know if this'll help, but I found this:
You should be able to export wav. Are you sure you have the locators set properly? Like this >----------------< and not like this <------------------->?
With WMP you should be able to import as wma or mp3. Check the options menu.
my cursor arrows are good.
when I am in Cubase and finish recording I go to EXport>Audio Mixdown.
from there a box opens for which manner of export, be it WAV, MP3, etc,
then I can change the bit rate in another box.
there is no exporting in any other manner.
it seems I have to use this export box within Cubase.
I know of no other way, unless I find the way to upgrade to unlimited, as it says I should .
Okay......So, you CAN export to wav or no? :?:
no. I could not export anything. very odd. surley I missed something.
regardless. I am all ok now. a formite on the Cubase forum sent me the MP3updater patch. I now hve unlimited
amounts.
if anyone needs the patch update I have the file and can pass it along.
Steinberg Cubase did sell them but stopped.
thanks all.
My CUBASE LE MP3 license ran out. I understand someone may be able to send me the patch or give me a link that works. My system is windows XP.
I would appreiciate some help as it is becoming a real pain to export a WAV and translate it with another program (cooledit). Not only that but I don't think the final product is as clean as a direct export.
PLEASE HELP!

Since this thread's last post prior to yours (about four years ago) I've gone completely to a linux based DAW; Ubuntu Studio, which is built around Ardour.
For you, I'd recommend you think about a switch to Reaper, it has mp3 export and other formats, along with a whole lot more power and flexibility than Cubase LE. It's free and 100% functional to try, and inexpensive to buy
