Go to here and under Manuals grab the Getting Started one. Chapter 6 is a pretty good tutorial on basic recording and playback.
(I assume you have the LE version like I do, if not the link is incorrect.)
I use Cubase Le with a PC. I have a DVD tutorial that has helped a lot.
I also found a forum that looks very helpful. it is pretty active with fast responses.
what kind of problems are you having?
maybe I can get you going.
reply here or PM me.
I'm getting no sound. it starts and runs, but i'm not seeing or hearing anything. Went over installation again but still...nothing.

Sorry...maybe a little more info.
I'm using a Tascam US122L with an IBM 1.6 gig duel processor and 512 of RAM. Windows XP
Installed the drivers and plugged in guitar. using headphones to monitor.

when you say it starts and runs...what exactly do you mean...
1. the Cubase program opens
2. you have named the project
3. you have opened an audio track
4. you have enabled the track to record (the red button is showing red)
5. you make a sound with your guitar and you see a level mark move (meaning the program is receiving input)
6. you do the above and you see no output line moving.
??
I tried again and this time I pushed the select overview button and it recorded and played back. I don't know why yet...because I don't know what those four buttons do. I'll go back to the manual and read more tomorrow.
Thanx and I'll write back.

which four buttons? where do you see them?
Make sure the track is record enabled. Make sure the vst inputs are enabled. Definitely download the getting started manual. It's light reading with lots of diagrams.
First... thanks for the info. Getting started helped. Now I have it recording...poorly.
I don't understand when to record in stereo or mono? It won't record the first track in mono. I can get it to record in 24 track or empty project track in stereo, but only on the right side. It says in the manual not to input R and L at the same time. If so... I don't get it.
I have a electronic drum I would like to use badly. Do I just record everything on different tracks on the right side.... If not how do you know what to put on which side ie, R or L....I haven't gotten into mixing very deep yet. Does it happen then and if so still which side gets what?

I have used a drum machine. just plugged it in like the guitar.
choosing Left/ Right panning etc...is up to your ears. there are some standards but create something new if you want.
It doesn't have to be that difficult. In fact I dare say it isn't that difficult. Signal routing is all based around logic. That's the way it has to be. It's a machine. Any esoteric values are imposed upon it by the people who use it. Record a stereo source to a stereo track. A mono source to a mono track.
In cubase look at the icons at the top. On the far left there is an icon which when moused over should say "show/hide inspector". Click on this to show the inspector. There you can decide whether the track is mono or stereo.
Regarding the drum machine: plug the left an right out or use a single stereo TRS jack to dual mono TS jack to go into the left and right channels of the US 122. Record this in stereo.
Not really anything about getting started recording with your set-up, but the quality of your experience. You will probably want to upgrade your RAM to 1GB to help your system run smoother and quicker.
