Hi all
I have a huge collection of VST plugins, from bog standard pianos to theremins, synths and all sorts. The one thing I can't seem to track down though is a really decent emulation or sample (free, of course!) of an upright double bass.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers
Pete

I used a soundfont synth set up to use an Acoustic bass patch from a General Midi soundfont.

Playing guitar and never playing for others is like studying medicine and never working in a clinic.
I use Trilogy. Check this, not-yet-finished, song I used it in: http://www.box.net/shared/kusc2wcsoo
Trilogy also comes with many other basses: accoustic, electric and synth basses. Well worth the money.
I realize the key word was "free," but if you had some extra money just sort of lying around East West has some awsome VSTs with the some of the best sampling I haver heard around. Of course you pay for it. They have this Chris Hien Bass Package that has every bass known to mankind and runs for a mere $463!!!

All-well, maybe your birthday's coming around or you know a rich uncle or something.

Sadly all my rich uncles (and aunts, and grandparents, and nextdoor neighbours) have been shot and buried under the patio in order for me to cash in their wills and feed my ever growing compulsion to buy gear that I don't really need!!!
Still, who knows - maybe a lottery win?!?!
