All the best, Steve.
To be honest, a website with nothing on the home page but a personal info sign up form probably isn't going to make it very far these days.
I'd suggest you provide some sort of introductory video or audio that indicates what approach you're taking to teaching. Maybe a bit about yourself as well.
:)

Mods, I think this belongs in the Indy Site forum

Don

From what I can see it has been moved to Indie Site and Product Promotion - tick in the box for us Mods on that one

I have signed up, and will let you know. The first thing you're asked to do is download a 1-page pdf of the A-"Natural Minor" and Pentatonic Minor patterns. I'll start looking at the Vids tomorrow (end-of-term reports for some of my 85 students to finish tonight.)

Obviously, it's a very busy marketplace, Steve. We wish you well.

ok - I've looked at the first Video.

Good points:

1 - Everything is played firstly at speed, and then slowed down to allow you to see what's going on
2 - The camera is trained on the fretting hand
3 - the final lick at the end of the video will defeat those who are just starting out with lead guitar, but all the licks are slowed down and talked through and you can work your way up to it

Things I wouldn't teach that way

1 - The sound is overdriven - I teach lead guitar on the clean channel because distortion gets used to cover a lot of playing faults and you can't hide on the clean channel
2 - The slide down the strings at the end of some of the scale work is nice to be able to do but doesn't teach you anything
3 - The metronome accented beat 1 of each bar and that wasn't really a requirement at this level

These would be nice to have

1 - The second lick assumes you can perform a supported string bend and a pull off - I'd like to have seen some explanation of "How to" included
2 - Ditto the pull-off - and watch for the hammer-on-pull-off trill later in the video

Will it teach you to play lead guitar? It gives you some of the tools and I guess the next video will give you more

Will it teach you to improvise? No, coming up with a killer solo is still down to you but at least you'll know how you can put it together

Steve: overall, I think it's a decent product. I think you need to talk more about using the scale patterns in other keys, the closing shots about playing in G at the 3rd fret and so on should have been left to a later video (at least until you'd explained how all the five box patterns fit together.)

Video 2 - as before, and...

The video starts talking about "2nd pattern" then rapidly heads off to talk about "2nd position" and the two terms are very different

Video 3 - as before; the narrative consistently talks about "3rd position" and then starts playing the scale at the 10th position.
