I've heard that the smashing pumpkins and white stripes use the big muff distortion pedal.  When I started looking at em online to get an idea in prices, I realized there are 2 kinds.  One is silver and the other is black.  Based on online description alone, I don't know the difference except ones 50 bucks and ones 80.  Can anyone tell me what sets them apart and what they think of the pedals?  Thanks

The original looked like this one. Big muff

I haven't tried the new ones so I really couldn't say if they've changed any thing inside.  I do have one I purchased many years ago and it still holds its own.
They truely have an amazing sound.

Sorry I couldn't help you better.

i got 2 pedals all together, russiun and usa big muff, usa being the silver 1 ,the russiun is used by allot of metal artists and tends to have a darker tone, the usa is grungier and has a adaptor outlet,it also costs the most.the usa is definently the best, its like an epiphone/gibson , squire/fender kind of relationship, hope that helps
