im not a guitar specialist but try cleaning it inside and outside and then let it cool off for a while before you play and if that doesnt work check the cables for any suspicious things

Just leaving it with the guitar cables plugged in shouldn't have done anything to it,  but run the battery down. I leave any floor pedals I have plugged in 24/7, I use Adapters on them.

Maybe the new battery you installed is also bad. real tech testing here,  take the battery out (9 volt) and touch it on your tongue. If it gives you a tingly sensation then theres a little power in it, if it gives you a good zap then its good to go.

Did you do the battery test?  I have not done that since I was a kid because it DID hurt!

Try doing that "field test" with a 45volt. Talk about a tingle. I think I still feel it.

That is hilarious. My bass player told me to lick a 9v battery's terminals a few weeks ago, and I had no idea what it'd do, so I did. The battery was without-doubt at full charge! Heaven forbid you lick a 45v though...
