lately we have been practicing a couple of songs where I have used fingerpicking for solo's in the middle.
all went well during practice - which was at low volume levels in our drummers kitchen (where we practice).

last night we played live, and when the first fingerpicked solo came around, i found it couldnt be heard. it seems at gig volumes, my fingerpicking was lost in the mix even with the volume boost on.

after that, for the next song with a fingerpicking solo i gave the volume a much bigger boost - this lead to me being heard - but it sounded so mushy/distorted - even on the clean setting i was using. totally opposite to how it has been in practice.

i just wonder if anybody else who normally uses a pick for most songs has had this problem before when they switch to fingers??
