One of the musical ensembles that I play in is the Crystal Band of Scranton, a concert band. http://www.crystalband.com A few years ago, we had a guy play with us that played the theremin on a few songs, including the original star-trek theme song. It sounded very cool, but he said that it was very hard to play.

I've got a Moog Etherwave. I need to practice more with it to really get anything musical out of it (the learning curve's pretty steep and I haven't put in the time and effort yet), but you can get some fun sounds out of it just goofing around.

This is the one I've got: http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=14

Be sure and click on the links to samples of performers using them.

I'm pretty sure that the guy who played with us used the Moog one.
