HA! I have the only amps I need right now...... or do I? Wait! Yeah, not this time buddy!
Take your smut somewhere else pal!
The so-cal came out about the same time as the blues custom.
Does anyone actually know what they sound like? My guitar center doesn't have one.
I'm a big fan of Epi tube amps, and this one looks really nice.

That's funny you should post that Ricochet: after I saw that in a catalog I was thinking, that if I ever wanted to get back into having a nice loud stack, I'd probably get one of those socals sight-unseen. Either that or try and find one of the black tolex Carvin X100-B's on eBay.
I haven't tried one out, don't know what they sound like, but...I'm thinking it can't be too bad. I guess for some of us oldtimers, if an amp has a 'pretty good' clean sound and a 'pretty good' lead sound - in other words, a good, basic sound all around, we can tweak it the way we want to get what we want.
I'd be willing to try it just because of the price.

I thought I read somewhere that the head is $500 and the cab is $800.
nope, head is 500, cab is 300, together 800 :)

From the site.......
Their prices are, So-Cal 50h amp is $499.99 and So-Cal 412Sl cabinet is $799.99.

Even Music123.com has their ad copy messed up.
The SoCal head: http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-SoCal-50H-Guitar-Amp-Head-i408745.music
The SoCal 4x12 cab (mis-titled as SoCal 412s Guitar Combo Amp): http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-SoCal-412s-Guitar-Combo-Amp-i408747.music
(even though in the product description it says "The SoCal 412s is a 280w handling 4x12 closed back cabinet with lady luck eminence speakers and birch ply cabinetry.")
And the combination of both http://www.music123.com/Epiphone-So-Cal-Guitar-Cabinet-i427406.music
...is mis-titled as SoCal Guitar cabinet!
Wow, I could maybe get a job as their copy editor/proof reader!
But...yah, $800 doesn't seem to bad for a 50watt tube halfstack. :)

Oh! I just noticed, on the original link, that it has a half-power switch in the back!
http://www.epiphone.com/news.asp?NewsID=649
A little like the Carvin where had a switch on the back which went 100%, 50% and 25% - which was really cool.
I'm liking this amp more and more.
I just emailed music123.com regarding the mistakes on their SoCal listings.
I mean, c'mon, a speaker cabinet that's almost twice the price of the head?
Those guys!
I thought that was alittle pricey too for a cab. I guess the site I was on was listing the two together. It sure didn't read that way though.

They must have been getting their info from music123.
Yah, sometimes, especially with sites that have huge numbers of items to sell, they'll like get a CD with say, Epiphone's latest prices and products and import the file into their site database without looking. I mean, I can understand that if there's literally thousands of items, you're not going to doublecheck every single item. Then someone does a search and all the wrong stuff is there, or it's reversed or the pictures don't match.
But now maybe they'll go in and edit it. It just makes the company look a little messy if that kind of stuff happens. Like all the typos I find in Music123's hardcopy catalogs and zZounds. You know, like 2 'the's in a row...that kind of thing.
