Ok, I think I am set on getting this Mesa Boogie Rectifier Recording pre-amp b/c I want a rack mount rig and they don't make the Dual Rect. in rack mount anymore and I don't want to buy used gear. I think this pre-amps runs about $1,000(USD) and if I'm gonna shell out that kind of cash I want to find a power amp that will draw the tone I want. I'm not sure I need that much power anyhow? And I don't want to shell out another $ 1,200(USD) for a power amp. Does the Stereo 2:50 produce a similar tone just with less power? Are there other brands that will save me a little cash but produce a quality sound? With the pre-amp how much difference is the power amp really gonna make, I mean watts are watts right?
