Can anybody give me an idea of what might be wrong with my amp? I have a Marshall JMT60. Part solid state and part tube amp. It was playing fine then I took it to a party and it turned on, but no sound what-so-ever. I have very limited knowledge of the workings of an amp and have to travel to find a good repair person so I thought I'd see what kind of ideas come up first.
Could it be the tubes? It's been a while since I've had them replaced. They light up although seem to look a bit dim. All the wires seem to be intact.
If it might be the tubes could anybody tell me a good brand for Marshalls?
Thanks.
Jim C.
Tubes very rarely suddenly fail, producing no sound at all.
Check the obvious things first. Is the guitar's volume turned all the way down? Have you tried another cable? Tried wiggling the cable in the jacks? Is the amp's power on? Fuse blown? Is there power in the socket the amp's plugged into?

Thanks for your response Ricochet. I think you are right that it has to be something other than the tubes, I don't get sound even from the solid state channel. I guess I'll have to have a professional look at it.
