Let me explain the set up first

Subwoofer on the floor, has one plug that goes out and should plug into the laptop. Another plug goes out and goes into the right speaker. Then, a chord goes from the right speaker and can plug into the left speaker.

So what I'm doing is, plugging the one that should go to the left speaker into the amp's (Fender HRD) input. The reason I'm doing this is because the speakers, when turned as loud as possible, would break up, and as I've been getting into Beethoven's 9th more and more, I keep wanting to turn it louder and louder, but the breakup ruins it.

Is what I'm doing okay? Can my guitar amp play all these sounds out of it (drums, strings, vocals, etc) without blowing up? I havn't turned it to the max yet, out of fear, but as of now, setting it to "3" (out of 12) is EXTREMLY loud and awesome.

Will I damage the $600 amp?

Thanks,

A slightly deaf-er Taso

No - you're just missing half the music. Guitar speakers are NOT full range speakers, so you're losing out on most of the music with frequencies over 8Khz or so. Plus you're missing the depth of field a stereo image can provide.

Since you're doing some home recording, I'd invest in a pair of these:

They'll help your mixes too!

I heard about those. They must be damn incredible.

Problem is...who can afford speakers that expensive?

lol, I thought it sounded "strange". I don't have the dough for those, but will be inveseting in a good surround sound speaker set up for the new HDTV back in Philly (in NY for the summer) , I guess I'll put my laptop's audio through the HDTV? Would that be good quality (without the surround sound speakers I'm saying)?

True, I saved for a while to get these. I told myself, "Self! You have 6 guitars. You don't really need another one...yeah I know. Get a pair of these and your GT-8 will come alive"

know what? I was right :)

They're really not that expensive compared to other speakers with similar options.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

I got a set of powered monitors I bought a while back for use with my 4 track. I got them hooked up to the computer and it will rival a home stereo. Did hava a sub woofer too but my son has that hooked up to the XBoX.
